Sugar cane

Sugar cane

Today we were lucky enough to be eating sugar cane because sugar cane doesn't usually grow in New Zealand more in the  pacific islands because it was warmer there, so to be eating the sugar cane is very lucky.

Lots of people said that the sugar cane was not as sweet as they remember, but I had never had sugar cane before so I had nothing to compare the sugar cane to.

Bubbles

Topic 5: Bubbles

How to make bubbles:

One part water, one part soap, and some glycerol to make the last a little longer

Task 1:

Make a caterpillar bubble.

How it worked: The caterpillar was much harder than I thought that it would be. A tip that the teacher gave to us is we should be using the different sized straws for the different bubbles as you go down. Then something that I learnt on the way is that you need to be quick or it will drop.

Task 2:

Make a carousel bubble.

How it worked: Every time that I tried to spin the carousel I just pop the bubbles. A tip the teacher gave us is to blow gently and slowly because the more that you blow the faster that it will get.

Task 3:

Make a cube bubble.

How it worked: This one was very easy and entertaining. The bubbles stuck together very well and seeing the cube in the middle was very cool. It was very interesting seeing the different shapes and not seeing the original sphere and cylinder.

Flower Power

Pin on Kids Answers

Today for tech my class was dissecting a hibiscus.
The aim was to carefully dissect a hibiscus flower and bud.

The goal of this activity at the end is to know the parts of the flower and what the function of each part is.
  • Be able to dissect a flower and arrange the parts.
  • To be able to speak of the flower.
  • complete a diagram of the different parts.

flower thoughts:
Your thoughts about the flower. Cool, smells nice
What you have notice about the flower they are important
What you know. They help us by making fruit.
