The School Teacher By Liz Allen

The School Teacher By Liz Allen

My story board on the School Teacher. It first starts of with her having a shower and getting ready. Then it goes on with her at school doing a job she doesn't really want to do anymore. Lastly going home and remembering a tragic moment on the news.

How the Leopard Got His Spots

The Ethiopian says that Leopard "sticks out like a bar of soap in a pile of coal." Which does this mean?   which means that he does not fit in

How did learning to blend in help Leopard? He could hunt better without being seen by his prey

What does fauna mean? it means the life around animals

What is the "weird voice" that tricked Leopard and the Ethiopian? It was the narrator

Which is the main idea of this story?  A leopard finds a way to get more spots.

Prototec basic facts 2021 November.

Before

Today I did prototec. I didn't get much better than the last time I did it, and the last time that I did do it was a month ago on the 18 of october. That is probably why I got 5% less than last time. that shows me that I need to work a bit harder in maths, and two ways I can do that is doing it everyday even if it is not perfect and if we go  back into lockdown I will practicing there to not just at school.

Science

Today for science we did investigating the effect of different types of physical activity on heart rate.
A question that our teacher ask us to fined the answer to was: What is pulse rate/heart rate?
The answer i gave was: The What is pulse rate/heart rate is the number of times your heart beats in one minute.
what you need: Smart stopwatch, tennis ball and a stop watch. We did a range of tasks some that made our heart rate go low or mad our heart rate go fast. Like for example running made my heart beat faster and sitting down makes my heart beat slower.

Acids and Bases

Today in science we learned about acids and bases. Here are some question that the teacher wanted us to think about:
  • What is pH?

pH is a measurement of how acidic/basic water is.
  • How do you measure pH?

You can measure pH using litmus paper.
  • What is the scale of pH is measured on?

PH is measured on the range goes from 0 - 14.
  • What pH level does water have? Is water acidic, basic or neutral?

Pure water has a pH of 7 and it is neutral because it has neither acidic nor basic.
  • What is the most acidic pH level?

the most is zero the most acidic.
  • What is the most basic pH level?

Th most is 14 .

Something else the teacher also told us s some facts is the most liquid is ether an acid or base depending on the type of Ions. The different types of ions we have learnt so far is hydroxide ions hydrogen ions. She also told us that the pH scale is always 0 to 14. And that usually acid is bad but all acids are bad like lemons, grapes and oranges, they have citric acid

now we did the task:

Sugar cane

Sugar cane

Today we were lucky enough to be eating sugar cane because sugar cane doesn't usually grow in New Zealand more in the  pacific islands because it was warmer there, so to be eating the sugar cane is very lucky.

Lots of people said that the sugar cane was not as sweet as they remember, but I had never had sugar cane before so I had nothing to compare the sugar cane to.

This is my family tree!

Bubbles

Topic 5: Bubbles

How to make bubbles:

One part water, one part soap, and some glycerol to make the last a little longer

Task 1:

Make a caterpillar bubble.

How it worked: The caterpillar was much harder than I thought that it would be. A tip that the teacher gave to us is we should be using the different sized straws for the different bubbles as you go down. Then something that I learnt on the way is that you need to be quick or it will drop.

Task 2:

Make a carousel bubble.

How it worked: Every time that I tried to spin the carousel I just pop the bubbles. A tip the teacher gave us is to blow gently and slowly because the more that you blow the faster that it will get.

Task 3:

Make a cube bubble.

How it worked: This one was very easy and entertaining. The bubbles stuck together very well and seeing the cube in the middle was very cool. It was very interesting seeing the different shapes and not seeing the original sphere and cylinder.

Science Topic 2

Mixing Sugar and Water | Assessments of Argumentation in Science - Stanford University

On Tuesday my science class was testing out laboratory Equipment. Using the laboratory Equipment we did an experiment, on how long sugar takes to dissolve in hot and cold water.  The time that me and my buddy got for the hot water was 24 seconds and in the cold water was 1m.12s

Task 1

Aim of the experiment:

How long does sugar take to dissolve in hot and cool water:

Equipment:

  • A weighing machine or a pair of scales

  • Spatula

  • A pipette (or proper)

Results (the outcome):

Cool water: 1m.12s

Hot water: 24 seconds

The average times

The cold water is 1min to 1min thirty.

Hot water lasts twenty to thirty seconds.

Flower Power

Pin on Kids Answers

Today for tech my class was dissecting a hibiscus.
The aim was to carefully dissect a hibiscus flower and bud.

The goal of this activity at the end is to know the parts of the flower and what the function of each part is.
  • Be able to dissect a flower and arrange the parts.
  • To be able to speak of the flower.
  • complete a diagram of the different parts.

flower thoughts:
Your thoughts about the flower. Cool, smells nice
What you have notice about the flower they are important
What you know. They help us by making fruit.

Science

Tuesday was the first day of the year sevens and eights new teach class. I am now in science.

The first thing group c did was, writing down 5 science word I wrote 1. Bacteria 2.Flora 3.Physics 4.Brain  5.eyes

The second thing we did was, write down four things that make a plane fly. I did Thrust, lift, weight and drag. We also learnt that what each of them mean. Thrust means who it moves. lift is when the air comes from under the plane causing the plane to fly. weight this weights down the plane. Drag is making the plane go slower so that the plane does not go to fast.

Then the third thing we did was, make a paper plane and see how far we could fly our planes, across the room. The farest that I got was 7 meters then, the lowest i got was 4.90 meters.

Quotes about education

"Nice and expensive items can be enjoyable, but there are very few things in life that can never be taken ."

to me this quote means, if you buy nice, expensive, enjoyable things can be stolen but knowledge will never.

Food tech learning.

My learning experience for the first term of food tech. I have learnt how to eat healthier and that you have to be patient.

Both of these are very important not just in cooking.

My first ever recipe was a smoothie it was very easy then we did mince in a lettuce cup that was also pretty easy then we did steak in a bun then today we did popcorn chicken with a side salad

which was very delightful but not in my common taste.

My favourite dish was lettuce cups and mince because, I like lettuce and I like mince.

My least favourite dish was steak in the bun because, I don't like steak.
So my experience at Tech was very cool and very new to me as I've just started this school.
